Lt. Col. Muhammad Faruk Khan (Retd.) was born on September 18th in 1951 in Dhaka. He holds a Masters in Defense Studies from Defense Services and Staff College in Mirpur. He served as a commissioned officer in the then Pakistan Army. He was a member of the parliament and was the Minister of Commerce of Bangladesh Government from January, 2009 to December, 2011. Later he became the Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism of Bangladesh Government from January, 2012 to December, 2014. He was elected from the seat of Gopalgonj-01 for the third time in a row in the National Election of 2008. He is also the Presidium member of Awami League. He pledged that the reduction of prices of basic foods and commodities are a priority in his term. He is a retired Colonel of Bangladesh Army.
